UPPER EAST SIDE — Neighborhood residents will soon have another way to spend lettuce on healthy meals.

Just Salad — a vegetable-centric chain with outposts in New York, Hong Kong, and Singapore — plans on opening a store at 1471 Third Ave., at East 83rd Street, in mid-May 2013, company officials confirmed to DNAinfo.com New York.

The current location closest to the Upper East Side is located at 663 Lexington Ave., between East 55th and 56th Streets, the company's website states.

The restaurant features both build-your-own and "chef-designed" salad selections such as "Chipotle Cowboy " and "Immunity Bowl" as well as wraps, soups, smoothies and frozen yogurt, according to its menu.

Nick Kenner, Just Salad managing partner and area resident, said that the new location has been in the works for several years.

This shop will have an updated design, kids menu, and ample seating, he said.

"I live on the UES myself and I have personally been looking to find the right location with the right rent for over 3 years!" he wrote in an e-mail to DNAinfo.com New York. "We are very excited to join the UES community."

Kenner added that the location would be on a "particularly health conscious" block — redolent with businesses such as Soul Cycle, Exceed Physical Culture, bikram yoga studios and juice bars.

"We should be a great fit for that block and the community as a whole," he said.
