NEW YORK CITY — A 50-year-old man was struck and critically injured by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon in the East Village, authorities said.

The pedestrian was hit near the corner of East Houston Street and Avenue C at about 1:45 p.m., fire officials said.

The victim was rushed to Beth Isreal Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

Police said no other details, including the victim's identity, were immediately available.
