Where to Watch 'Mad Men' Season Premiere

By Heidi Patalano | April 5, 2013 6:58am

NEW YORK — Don Draper is back this Sunday night.

Maybe by this sixth season premiere, you’ve finally accepted that you’ll never make swigging rye look as sexy as Jon Hamm does, but an alcoholic beverage remains the prerequisite pairing with watching AMC’s 1960s drama.

Will we get another classic moment on the level of “Zou Bisou Bisou”?

Enjoy some cocktails and costumes with your fellow “Mad” fans at these viewing parties to find out.

The Clover Club, located at 210 Smith St. in Brooklyn

Betty and second husband Henry Francis would be quite at home in Cobble Hill’s sophisticated Clover Club. Beginning at 8 p.m., the bar and restaurant will be offering hors d’oeuvres and a specialty cocktail (for a $25 entry fee). A $100 gift certificate will be awarded to the best-dressed attendee, but a costume is not required.

Videology, located at 308 Bedford Ave. in Brooklyn

This hip Williamsburg café, bar and video rental shop makes in-store screenings a regular affair, and this Sunday is no different. Though most attending will be there for the weekly “Game of Thrones” screening, “Mad Men” will also be shown at 9 p.m.

Madison Club Lounge, located at 45 E. 45th St. in Manhattan

Candy cigarettes and vintage cocktails will accompany this viewing party at Midtown’s Roosevelt Hotel, where Mr. Draper lived for some time during season two, while taking a break from Betty. With a costume contest, happy hour drink specials and a three-course prixe fixe special menu for $29, the deals are as convincing as the Old New York look of the bar. Get started at 7 p.m.

The Carnegie Club, located at 156 W. 57th St. in Manhattan

Don has never been into cigars, but there’s no doubt he’d enjoy the smoky atmosphere of Midtown’s Carnegie Club, which is one of the last places in the city where one can enjoy a cocktail with a stogie. At 8 p.m. the bar will open its doors to revelers who can (in costume or street clothes) enjoy finger food as well as specialty cocktails inspired by the show, with names such as “Betty’s Bitter Rage” “Liquor & Smoke” and “The Don Draper.”

Whiskey Park, located at 100 Central Park S. in Manhattan

Whiskey Park’s stunning views are the perfect backdrop for the “Mad Men” premiere. Arrive at 8 p.m. dressed as your favorite character (or not, it’s optional). Sip on cocktails inspired by the show while you play “Mad Men” trivia for the chance to win a $50 dollar gift card.
