CHELSEA — These pooches' lives aren't too ruff.
The intimate moments of fab furry friends are now on display at Chelsea Market, as part of a exhibit showcasing photos of show dogs and their handlers in less-than-choreographed moments.
"High Life" will show off photographer Dolly Faibyshev's snapshots of pampered pooches at Chelsea Market until March 31. The free exhibition shows off a collection of what Faibyshev described as a "weird pastime"
"The winning breed is actual news, every year," she explained. "I was watching the Westminster show on TV a few years ago and really wanted to know what went on behind the scenes, so I went, and have been following it ever since."
The 31-year-old's photos feature tuckered-out show dogs yawning, wagging their tongues or just fooling around.
The pictures included in the exhibit were all taken at the Westminster show in New York and the National Dog Show in Philadelphia.
Faibyshev said each photo is meant to analyze the relationship owners or handlers have with the dogs they tend to at the show.
"These handlers invest so much time in perfecting their dog, and there's so much emotion involved," she said. "Meanwhile, the dog doesn't really know what's going on, but he just wants to be a good dog and get some treats out of it. I just find that relationship fascinating."
Along with the show photos, Faibyshev has another set on display: "Palm Springs," a collection of images of manicured lawns and homes of the suburban 1960s.
All the photos at Chelsea Market will be available for purchase through Uprise Art, a collector's club that allows customers to "invest-to-own" using several monthly payments.
"High Life" runs until March 31 at Chelsea Market, 75 Ninth Ave.
