CARROLL GARDENS — Here's a fundraiser you can sink your teeth into.
The restaurant will be serving a $50 three-course menu, on Monday Feb. 25, featuring its famous Nashville-style fried chicken, along with potato salad and coleslaw. It will also be serving an iceberg wedge salad with candied bacon and a rice pudding with pear cremeux, cranberries and black pepper meringues for dessert.
When P.S. 58 decided to start its vegetable garden, Seersucker was eager to get involved because of its own emphasis on local seasonal ingredients, said restaurant co-owner Kerry Diamond.
“It’s important for people to know where their food is coming from,” said Diamond.
Last year, the fundraiser brought in $2,500, said Diamond. The money went towards seeds, soil, tools, building supplies, books, and more, according to the P.S. 58 website.
Seersucker chefs also hosted field trips for the kids, teaching them how to prepare what they had grown, including pickling and salad making.
