NEW YORK — The answer to the first question is easy. What time does the Super Bowl start? Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
The next question is harder. Where is the best Super Bowl party? Outside of New Orleans, where the Big Game is being played, that's a tough call, but here are a few suggestions.
►Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden (29-19 24th Ave., Astoria, Queens)
The famed beer garden plans to begin its festivities about an hour before kick-off, offering free hot dogs, $10 pitchers of beer and a wings special. The game will be shown in the main hall which is chock full of televisions.
►Finnerty's (221 Second Ave., East Village, New York)
Doors will open to the public at 3 p.m., but this bar for San Francisco fans expects long lines. However, for $35, it is offering a V.I.P. package that would let patrons in at 1 p.m. and skip the lines entirely. The package also gives revelers a free commemorative t-shirt and a chance to win an autographed Colin Kaepernick 49ers jersey and football.
►The Garden @ Studio Square (35-33 36th St., Long Island City, Queens)
Tickets cost $40 before Sunday and $45 at the door, but for the price, sports fans get unlimited beer, wine, sangria, spiked lemonade, and something they call "red stag iced tea." It will also be offering a buffet and raffle.
►Lucky Strike (624-660 W. 42nd St., Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan)
The bowling alley will be offering $15 buckets of beer and a $26 "big game sampler" that includes 2 pounds of wings and six mini cheeseburgers. It will also have bottomless mimosas and Bloody Marys for $10, but only between noon and 4 p.m., well before the game starts.
►Sanctuary Hotel New York (132 W. 47th St., Midtown, Manhattan)
For the more monied pigskin fan, there's Sanctuary. If you're in the mood to treat your six closest friends to a tailgate to remember, head to Sanctuary and drop a cool $850. At the bar, they're offering $.50 wings, three appetizers for $50, and $25 buckets of Budweiser or Brooklyn beer and truffle fries. However, for $600, you and your three friends can buy a table for the night and get one bottle of premium liquor, two beer buckets, and four appetizers. A table for six runs $850, and 10 for $1,300.
►Side Bar (118 E. 15th St., Union Square, Manhattan)
Ravens fans plan to stage a party at this upscale Union Square sports bar starting about 3 p.m. on Sunday. Along with $5 "purple crush cocktails" and $4 "purple hooter shots" they'll serve such Baltimore fare as Chesapeake Pretzels topped with crab meat and cheese as well as fried Chicken a la Maryland served with gravy.
►The Warsaw (261 Driggs Ave., Williamsburg, Brooklyn)
Roberta's pizzeria will host a Super Bowl party complete with wings, nachos, buckets of beer, towers of beer and shot specials. Doors open at 4 p.m.
