HARLEM — The body of a 48-year-old man was found — bound and with a bag over his head — in his Hamilton Place apartment Monday morning, police sources said.

A home health-care aide discovered Charles Romo in his second-floor apartment at 87 Hamilton Place, near West 141st Street, just before 10:30 a.m., sources said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The NYPD said the investigation into the man's death was ongoing. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

A few hours after the body was found, detectives set up a crime scene and canvassed the area. Police also removed a dog from the building.

Neighbors were horrified by the victim's death.

"He was a really friendly guy. He always asked how people were doing," said Wily Batista, 21, who lives with his family on the first floor of the building. "It's a horrible crime. Hopefully we find out what happened and these people are brought to justice."
