By Aidan Gardiner | January 8, 2013 2:25pm | Updated on January 8, 2013 9:47pm

EAST FLATBUSH — An off-duty correction officer shot and critically injured a 32-year-old man in East Flatbush Tuesday afternoon, police sources said.

The victim, who was not immediately identified, was shot on the left side of the chest on Clarendon Road near Utica Avenue just after 1 p.m., sources and officials said.

Just before the shooting, the victim and the correction officer, who were driving in separate cars, got involved in a dispute, police sources said. The victim got out of his car and approached the officer's car, and that's when the officer fired, sources said.

The man was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he remained in critical condition Tuesday evening, a police source said.

The 31-year-old Department of Correction worker has not been identified.

There were no arrests as of Tuesday night.
