MIDTOWN — A woman was killed by a 2 train after stumbling and falling onto the tracks at 34th Street early Tuesday, according to officials and reports.
The woman, who was in her 20s, was standing on the northbound 2 train platform at the Seventh Avenue Penn Station stop at approximately 5 a.m., the Associated Press reported. She started "stumbling around," and fell onto the tracks, the Associated Press and MTA officials said. She was hit by an uptown 2 train, officials said.
Police could not immediately confirm the incident.
An MTA spokeswoman said that the incident prompted train delays on the 1 and 2 lines while police conducted their investigation. Service was restored at approximately 7:28 a.m., she said.
