UPPER WEST SIDE — A 62-year-old deliveryman was struck and killed by a truck on Columbus Avenue Friday morning, witnesses and police said.

Luis Enriquez, who worked for 7UP, was unloading his double-parked delivery truck at West 73rd Street when just after 8:20 a.m. a truck traveling south on Columbus Avenue slammed into him, police and co-workers said.

"It was really loud," said Juan Santos, who works in a bodega across from the crash. "He looked pretty bad. There was a lot of blood on his face."

Enriquez was taken to St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center in cardiac arrest, according to the FDNY.

He died a short time later, police sources said.

His co-workers at 7UP said Enriquez started at the job recently.

"He's a new guy," said Carlos Cruz, who added that Enriquez had emigrated from Ecuador and had been working for the company a few months. "He was a friendly, hard-working guy.

"It's really sad," Cruz added. "I still can't believe this really happened. I saw him this morning."
