MANHATTAN — As temperatures dip, menswear looks are growing more robust — a fierce harmony of eclectic urban layering and durable boots.
The expression of men’s amped-up fashion vibe was captured by singer/songwriter Christopher Mansfield of the indie-rock band Fences. He was spotted in SoHo, in a very fitted Army-olive hearty wool hunting jacket, inky pants and well-worked Jodhpur boots.
His brand of urban chic is a fashion realism Street Chic has been tracking the past few seasons — also seen on male models strutting confidently on the runways in New York and Paris. The look is championed by labels such as Duckie Brown and Boris Bidjan Saberi.
Electronic musician Joey Blush, founder of Blush Response, was wearing a biker look in Union Square with his draped fabric-blocked leather jacket, oiled-cotton motorcycle pants and lace-up boots.
Street Chic was also struck with the smoky shades and textures of black and tall boots worn by fashion writer Julian Du Four on Broadway in SoHo.
Jacket styles are also varied. Artist Tristan Reginato wore a timeless classic leather biker jacket layered with shades of gray suiting fabric, along with a black and white Foulard pattern scarf, slim black denim and tall lace-up black work-boots with red soles.
Street Chic liked the layered lengths of a well-worn herringbone varsity jacket paired over a slim, knee-length navy topcoat, a black and white Henley, slim tan pants and lace-up boots on former model Jovel Royston in SoHo.
Charlie Himmelstein of Major Models was also seen in a vintage white leather fringe jacket, black denim and classic Doc Martens boots in the West Village.
Purple tones also added wattage to fall style, from a fitted cashmere sweater in a vibrant hue to the periwinkle denim jeans worn by Commercial Sound artist Maximiliano Jones.
Street Chic also spotted a drip painted duffle coat, selvedge black denim jeans and distressed boots in Union Square, worn by television star Julian Arango of Yo soy Betty, la fea, the original Spanish Ugly Betty series.
We also took note of the increasing number of beards, fingerless gloves, ankle boot and black knit hats.
