MANHATTAN — They're bringing some bonafied lovin' to Manhattan.
The dance-friendly funk duo Chromeo will play a free concert in the Meatpacking District Thursday night, turning Gansevoort Plaza into an outdoor holiday party.
The show is set to begin at 8:30 p.m. at the corner Greenwich and Gansevoort streets, according to the website of the event's sponsor, Belvedere Vodka.
The concert, which will be accompanied by a light show projecting images of 20-foot red neon trees, is being thrown by the liquor company for World AIDS Day, which is Saturday, Dec. 1. Belvedere will be promoting its "special edition" product Belvedere Red, from which a portion of proceeds are donated to AIDS treatment groups, the company's website said.
The neon trees lit at the concert will be illuminated on nearby buildings each night through Saturday, according to Belvedere.
Fans of the Montreal-born musicians, who go by P-Thugg and Dave 1, took to social media to voice their excitement about the show.
"Can't wait to dance to @chromeo," Twitter user tanmj4vr wrote.
According to the BBC and Columbia University's website, Dave 1 — born David Macklovitch — is a New Yorker and doctoral candidate in French literature at Columbia.
