21-Year-Old Man Shot to Death in Rockaways

ARVERNE — A 21-year-old man was shot to death Friday, and police later arrested an 18-year-old in connection with the alleged crime, police said.

Police found Peren Phillipe, of Rockaway Park, with multiple gunshot wounds in his torso and legs, at 8:15 p.m. Friday night in front of a building at Rockaway Beach Boulevard and Beach 43rd Street.

Phillipe was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, but determined to be dead on arrival. Upon investigation, police arrested a suspect, Diamonte Alexander, 18, of Far Rockaway. 

Police also recovered a 9mm handgun at the scene, and have charged Alexander with murder, and criminal possession of a weapon.
