PROSPECT HEIGHTS — There might be a bad seed.

Officials at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden have discovered that more than 40 checks worth nearly $50,000 were stolen from the institution, DNAinfo.com New York has learned.

According to a Nov. 14 police report, 45 checks were cashed 'without permission or authority' from the garden, totaling $48,763.11.

Police could not immediately say whether there have been any arrests related to the complaint.

The report was filed by the garden's controller, but the institution declined to comment on the report.
