NEW YORK — Parents have an extra week to sign up for the city’s gifted and talented test, after the Department of Education pushed back the deadline because of Hurricane Sandy.

The Request for Testing forms for the elite public school programs were originally due on Nov. 9 but are now not due until Nov. 16, the DOE said Wednesday.

Families can submit an online form or a hard copy.

Gifted and talented tests will take place in January 2013, and families will learn their child’s score in the spring.

For more information, call 718-935-2009 or visit the DOE’s website.
