BROOKLYN — A 4-year-old girl was found dead with apparent bruises in an East New York apartment Tuesday morning, the NYPD reported.
Police were called to 2156 Linden Blvd. in the Boulevard Houses public housing complex about 11:30 a.m. They found Halii McCord lying unconscious and unresponsive, an NYPD spokesman said.
The girl had "possible bruising about the body," a police source said. She was rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
"Beautiful young girl," said a resident who only identified himself as Wayne C. "And the mother, she was a nice young lady.
"That girl was well cared for," Wayne added.
The medical examiner will perform an autopsy Wednesday afternoon to determine the cause of death, a spokeswoman said.
The incident remains under investigation.
