RED HOOK — Actor Steve Buscemi, "American Idol" competitor Kimberley Locke and four current and retired NFL players have joined the guest list for Friends of Firefighters' fifth annual fall fundraiser in Red Hook Tuesday night, Oct. 16.
The event runs from 7 to 11 p.m. at 199 Van Brunt St., a former firehouse that Friends of Firefighters has made its headquarters. Tickets cost $75, and include dinner cooked by FDNY members, beer and wine, and live music.
Buscemi, who stars in the critically-acclaimed HBO series "Boardwalk Empire," served as an FDNY firefighter with Engine 55 in the 1980s and is a regular contributor to firefighter foundations and fundraisers. He also a member of Friends of Firefighters' Board of Advisors.
"I know that they need help, and it makes me feel really good that there's an organization like Friends of Firefighters that is an incredible resource for them and their families," Buscemi said in a video for the organization.
New York Giants center Jim Cordle and tight end/fullback Bear Pascoe will also make appearances, joined by retired New York Jets linebacker Matt Finkes and retired Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Corey Louchiey.
Locke, the third-place finisher in the 2003 season of "American Idol," will sing the National Anthem, and the FDNY Pipes & Drums will also perform. The Big Slow Band will then entertain with live music the rest of the evening.
The charity auction will get underway online a few days before the fundraiser, and it includes a walk-on role for HBO's "Boardwalk Empire," a three-night stay for two in the Bahamas, and tickets to Tony Lo Bianco's one-man-show, "The Little Flower."
