Former Smiths front man and savior of women who pass out in The Strand bookstore, Morrissey, is playing Radio City Music Hall. Not to worry if you miss him there, as he is playing two more shows at Terminal 5 on Friday and Saturday.
Also playing: Legendary no-wave band Swans are at The Bowery Ballroom with A Hawk and a Hacksaw, which somewhat counterintuitively consists of a drummer and violinist.
Thursday, Oct. 11
The new Barclays Center can't bring the Dodgers back to Brooklyn, but it has brought Barbra Streisand back to her home borough. The singer and actress, who went to Erasmus High School on Flatbush Avenue, is also coming out with a new collection of previously unreleased material spanning her career. The album, "Release Me," came out Tuesday. If you don't catch her on Thursday, she is playing a second show Saturday.
Also playing: London DJ and producer SBTRKT is bringing his colorful tribal masks to Terminal 5.
Friday, Oct. 12
Australian indie-rock band The Temper Trap are bringing their emotive, soaring sound to Roseland Ballroom. The band released their second album in May to somewhat mixed reviews, but they are known for putting on an intense live show.
Saturday, Oct. 13
Santigold — whose music includes a mix of hip-hop, new wave, reggae and punk — is bringing her eclectic sound to Roseland Ballroom. Her latest album, "Master of My Make-Believe," came out in April.
Also playing: Calexico blends a beautiful mix of country, folk, mariachi and even psychedelic rock, like with their wonderful cover of Love's "Alone Again Or." Check them out with The Dodos at Webster Hall.
Sunday, Oct. 14
Los Angeles' Silversun Pickups vacillate nicely between a wall of guitar distortion to delicately sung melodies. With Cloud Nothings, who do power pop right, and Atlas Genius at Terminal 5.
Also playing: Some of Gospel music's biggest stars are playing the Barclays Center, with Kirk Franklin, Marvin Sapp, Donnie McClurkin and Israel Houghton all performing together for the first time as The King's Men.
Monday, Oct. 15
Mika's pop music is all over the place, as is his fashion sense. He is sure to entertain at Webster Hall.
Also playing: Brooklyn's Das Racist is bringing its hipster-friendly hip-hop to Irving Plaza.
Tuesday, Oct. 16
Fiona Apple was arrested in Texas last month after police found drugs in her tour bus. Luckily, she made it out of the big house and is set to play a show at Terminal 5.
Also playing: The CMJ festival kicks off with Thieves Like Us, Teen Daze and Delicate Steve playing Webster Hall. Also playing the festival, which takes place in venues across the city through Saturday, are Born Ruffians, Lawrence Arabia, The Mountain Goats and Q-Tip.
