RED HOOK — The silver screen returns to Red Hook next weekend for the sixth annual Red Hook International Film and Video Festival, a juried competition featuring dozens of free film screenings, live music, pie and more.

The screenings start at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 13 and 14, at the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists' Coalition at 499 Van Brunt St., according to the festival's website. Entry is free and includes popcorn and Steve's Authentic Key Lime Pie, plus live performances by Brooklyn musicians Braxton Hicks and Blurple.

Hicks, a pianist, is scheduled to play Ray Charles blues and other songs from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Burple takes the stage at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Last year's film festival featured 25 shorts and features, ranging from documentary and narrative films to animated, experimental and fictional pieces, the festival's website says. Nine selections were based in Red Hook, and the judges' top picks were awarded the "Red Hook Award."

'Masstransiscope,' directed by Allison Prete, was among the films screened at the Red Hook Film Festival in 2011.
