NYPD Releases Photo of Alleged Harlem Arsonist

By Dan Rivoli | September 20, 2012 8:24am

MANHATTAN — The NYPD has released a photo of a suspect wanted for torching more than a dozen cars throughout Harlem earlier in the month.

An arsonist set fire to and damaged 15 cars, including luxury vehicles like a Ford Mustang, a BMW and a Lincoln Navigator, on Sept. 11, police said.

The vehicles were parked between West 110th Street and West 155th Street, from Edgecombe Avenue to Harlem River Drive.

A day after the blazes, police released a 29-second video of the alleged firebug from behind as he walked along Bradhurst Avenue.

The suspect is described as having a thin to medium build, bald, dark complexion and was wearing a dark colored T-shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers. He was also seen holding a light-blue drawstring backpack.

Cops are asking anyone with information about the car fires to call Crime Stoppers at 1800-577-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted at NYPDCrimeStoppers.com or by texting 274637 (CRIMES), then entering TIP577.
