MANHATTAN — A man allegedly shown brutally kicking a small pit bull in a video the NYPD released last week was arrested Monday and charged in the attack, police said.

The NYPD charged Brian Freeman, 28, of East 188th St. in The Bronx, with torturing and injury to an animal. The dog was taken into city custody, according to cops.

The video, released Friday, allegedly showed Freeman on Aug. 26, forcefully kicking the pit bull in the lobby of 505 East 120th St. in Harlem.

It then appeared to capture Freeman in an elevator, kicking the dog five times as the pooch curled up in a corner, slapping the dog's face and yelling at the cowering animal before exiting the elevator.

The dog, who suffered no serious injuries, was in the custody of Animal Care & Control, a city-contracted agency that finds housing and medical care for homeless or mistreated animals, according to police.
