MANHATTAN — Police are seeking to identify a man caught on camera brutally kicking a small dog in an East Harlem public housing elevator.
NYPD Thursday released a video of the man returning to the Wagner Houses on 505 E. 120th St. with the dog on a leash at approximately 11:30 a.m. Aug. 26.
The video shows the suspect giving the dog a swift kick inside the building lobby. The abuse continued inside the elevator, where the man was caught delivering a half dozen kicks to the cowering pooch’s head and body.
PETA, the animal advocacy group, has offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man in the video.
"Animal abusers are cowards," PETA Director Martin Mersereau said in a statement. "They take their issues out on the most defenseless beings available to them."
The video was captured by the NYPD VIPER Unit's surveillance team.
