Park Slope Bike Shop Gears Up for Williamsburg Debut

By Meredith Hoffman | September 4, 2012 2:56pm

WILLIAMSBURG — A popular Park Slope bike shop is setting up shop on the Williamsburg waterfront this fall — giving neighborhoood cyclists a chance to ride after the city's bike share program was delayed.

Ride Brooklyn — which has been open on Bergen Street for more than three years — will open up a new spot on Kent Avenue and North Seventh Street "in the next week or two," hawking Canondales, Schwinns, Linuses and more, salesperson Jake Fleischmann said.

"It was a really good territory. There aren't many bike shops," Fleischmann said of the Williamsburg location. "We do bike sales and repairs on just about any bike you can imagine."

Fleischmann said the staff is still deciding the hours of the new store, which would also likely offer bike classes this coming spring.

"Canondale will be one of our biggest brands there, also GT, Surly, Linus, Diamond Back and Electra," he said. "It'll be run by the same staff, the same people."
