GREENWICH VILLAGE — City Council Speaker Christine Quinn joined community leaders at a local subway station early Thursday to help catch a suspect in last week’s vicious sexual assault inside a massage parlor.

Quinn, who represents the area, warned residents outside the West 4th Street station for about 30 minutes and distributed fliers with a picture of the suspect.

“It’s just a horrible, horrible attack,” Quinn said. “We want to do everything we can to make sure he’s apprehended and also to make sure the victim knows the community of Greenwich Village is praying for her, supporting her and rallying behind her.”

The suspect allegedly attacked the 41-year-old woman Friday morning inside the Body Work massage parlor at 85 Washington Place after posing as a customer. He beat the victim into unconsciousness, sexually assaulted her and stole items from the parlor, police said.

The suspect is described as between 20 to 25 years old, standing about 6-feet tall and having a medium build. He was wearing a dark Kangol-type cap, dark T-shirt, camouflage shorts and a backpack, police said.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted by logging onto www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or texting tips to 274637, the entering TIP577.
