Rick's Cabaret to Open Times Square Strip Club

By Mathew Katz | August 20, 2012 11:19am

MIDTOWN — It's a flavor of the Times Square of old.

Rick's Cabaret, the massive strip club and steakhouse in Midtown, is set to open a second gentleman's club near the Crossroads of the World, where dens of sin were once commonplace.

But, despite it being in the business of baring all, the strip club empire isn't revealing the actual address of the new location, saying it will "be disclosed in due course."

A spokesman for the publicly-traded company, which has 24 spots around the country, said that it paid $3 million for a sex shop near Times Square, which it will spend the next year transforming into a premiere gentleman's club.

Rick's will enter into a new 20-year lease on the mysterious building once the deal goes through, a spokesman said.

“It is virtually impossible to find an appropriate location for an adult club in midtown Manhattan, so we are very fortunate that we have secured this rare site,” said Eric Langan, the company's president and CEO, in a statement.

“It is close to Times Square, numerous hotels and businesses, and is ideal for the kind of upscale club we operate."

The company hasn't chosen a name for the Times Square location, a spokesman said, but it won't be called Rick's since it already runs a club with that name, a Zagat-rated steakhouse/strip club at 50 W. 33rd St. The spot recently added a cover-free brunch on weekends.

The spot is set to open in the fall of 2013, if all goes well with permitting and renovating the building.
