ASTORIA — The Ivy League-educated lawyer accused of killing his financial executive girlfriend in their Astoria apartment posted a self-pitying message on Facebook that blamed the victim — 27-year-old Weight Watchers executive Danielle Thomas — for her own fate.
“I suspected she was a cheater,” says the message posted on Monday on Jason Bohn’s wall. “At the very least, I gradually confirmed she was a compulsive liar, particularly with regard to relations with the opposite sex, both past and present. As a result I grew insecure and abusive.”
As first reported in the New York Post, the message was dictated from the prison ward at Bellevue Hospital, where Bohn is currently held, to his brother, Chris Bohn, 30, who posted it on the social networking site.
Bohn shut down his Facebook page after his arrest, but his brother revived it on Aug. 10, the paper said.
“The night in question? In all honesty, it was an accident,” the message continued. “In short, I was heavily intoxicated, under a great deal of stress, and completely blacked out. I woke up the next morning in complete shock. My knuckles were bruised badly and she was on the floor unconscious.”
When police arrived at the apartment on June 26, they found Thomas's body face-up in a bathtub covered with bags of ice.
In the post, Bohn, a Columbia University graduate, also talks about how much he loved Thomas, a Kentucky native, whom he met in Florida, and how he suffered a lifetime of emotional abuse.
“As some of you may already know I was institutionalized as an abused and abandoned child. Clearly despite all of my hard work, I never fully recovered."
His brother told The Post that as kids they were abused by their father who was a drug addict who put beer in their bottles “and later turned Jason on to cocaine.”
The 33-year-old Bohn was charged with a first-degree murder and faces up to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
According to the indictment, the suspect "acted in an especially cruel and wanton manner" and "intended to inflict and inflicting torture upon the victim prior to the victim’s death.”
Officials said that Bohn beat and strangled Thomas, a Kentucky native who had moved to New York from Florida to pursue her dream, after subjecting her to a campaign of abuse.
He was arrested on May 24 for allegedly beating Thomas and then called her to threaten her when she was reporting him to police at the 114th Precinct stationhouse.
Bohn's lawyer, Todd Greenberg, said that his client did not have access to to the internet and doubted he would make statements about the case.
