Cops Release Video of Shirtless Man Wanted in Knife Attack

By Alan Neuhauser | August 10, 2012 8:57am

MANHATTAN — Cops released video of a shirtless man and a companion who are both wanted in connection with a knife attack on a 23-year-old man in Midtown early Saturday, July 21.

Police said a man was slashed in his left leg at Second Avenue and East 55th Street just before 3:45 a.m. He was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, cops said.

Police said the knife came from a bodega near the scene of the crime. They released a video of two men entering the store, snatching the knife, and leaving. One man, who was not wearing a shirt, was caught on camera grabbing an oversized knife from behind the store's deli counter.

His companion, wearing a plaid button-down shirt and jeans, suddenly walked into the frame and grabbed the shirtless man by the wrist and shoulder. He leaned toward the shirtless man, said something, then followed him out of the store.

Police said they want to question the men in connection to the incident, but did not say they were suspects.

Anyone with information about the two men or the incident is asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS (8477). Members of the public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or by texting tips to CRIMES (274637) then entering TIP577.
