BROOKLYN — An NYPD officer was injured after his police scooter collided with a pedestrian in East New York Tuesday morning, the FDNY and witnesses said.
The pedestrian was crossing Liberty Avenue at Barbey Street about 8:35 a.m. when he was struck by the scooter, fire officials said.
"By the time he went to cross, [the officer] was right on top of him," said Daisy Lora, who lives in the neighborhood. "It was a fast impact."
The pedestrian, Lora continued, "flew and landed on his face."
The officer, whose identity has not been released, was taken to Brookdale Hospital, the FDNY reported. The pedestrian was treated at the scene, witnesses said.
