Long-Awaited Park Slope Beer Hall to Open This Week

PARK SLOPE — Break out your steins, beer lovers.

The long-awaited Die Koelner Bierhalle is finally opening this Wednesday at 84 St. Mark's Place and Fourth Avenue, according to a post on the bar's Facebook page.

"You've waited for it and now the time has finally come!!! We're opening this Wednesday August 8th! Come celebrate and have a pint with us! It's on! Thank you for your ongoing support," the bar posted on Aug. 2.

Die Koelner Bierhalle's opening has been anticipated by beer fans since Die Koelner Bierhalle announced its plans last year. Delays involving city paperwork dragged out the process.

"This is awesome. I will be checking this place out. I hope they have good German potato salad," wrote a commenter on Here's Park Slope, which first reported the opening.

The 200-seat beer hall, modeled after the cavernous taverns of Cologne, will serve dozens of German beers at long communal tables designed to encourage customers to get to know each other, partner Natasha Kokonezi told DNAinfo New York recently.

Aside from the expansive beer selection, Die Koelner Bierhalle will also stock a full bar and wine list and serve traditional cuisine from northwest Germany.
