OPENINGS:
The West Village will be home to yet another specialty pastry shop. Bisous Ciao Macarons said last week it is planning to open a new shop on 235 Bleecker St. between Leroy and Carmine streets.
The Lower East Side-based Bisous Ciao, which makes its specialty pastry in New York, is best known for chic French-inspired macarons. The macarons vary from simple flavors like dark chocolate and raspberry to fancier fare like rosemary infused apricot and mandardin orange-wasabi.
A few blocks south, Westville, a restaurant and bakery, will serve its simple American food in a fourth location on 333 Hudson St. and Charlton Street.
Westville first opened in the Village on 210 W. 10th Street between Bleecker and West 4th streets, later expanding to Avenue A in the East Village then north to Chelsea.
The newest outpost will be Westville’s largest, taking over a spot that had difficulty holding onto a tenant such as the recently shuttered steakhouse, Prime 333, according to Eater NY.
For West Siders in the mood for Italian, particularly a panini, Bread New York in Noho is heading west to Hudson Street between Morton and Barrow streets, according to Zagat.
CLOSINGS:
Amid the West Village food influx, Bleecker Bob’s Golden Oldies on 118 W. 3rd St. at MacDougal Street is still waiting for word from its landlord about when the iconic record store will close.
The landlord, Al Rosenthal of Queens, told DNAinfo.com New York in July Bleecker Bob’s will be out of the West Village when he finds a suitable tenant for the 2,000 square-foot space.
“There’s no timeline,” Rosenthal said last month. “But they should be finished very shortly though.”
