NEW YORK CITY — The heat isn't the only thing scorching city streets this summer.
Despite this season's sweltering weather, Street Chic has found many New Yorkers managing the high temperatures very stylishly, from TriBeCa to Union Square to the High Line. These languid summer looks include many fashion trends that also reflect an inclination toward versatile textiles, silhouettes with classic simplicity and eye-catching blasts of color.
Some of the more standout looks found on the street include a willowy tie strappy top paired with boyfriend cut-off shorts in the Meatpacking District, a gossamer coral-colored jumpsuit with a cascading ruffle bib in Union Square, and a crisp white cotton shirt with turned-up powder blue trousers and bright orange espadrilles in SoHo.
These easy looks reflect casually elegant summer days while still exhibiting an incredibly practical outlook on fashion. The well-tailored, sleeveless navy blue shift dress has emerged as a popular silhouette of the season — a look highlighted in such collections as Diane von Furestenberg, Trina Turk and Krizia. We spotted a knockout version with pin tuck details and a matching navy straw hat exiting the High Line.
Street Chic also took notice of the great number of neon bights seen in this summer's fashions, particularly in menswear. Yellow- and orange-hued fitted V-necks were spotted strolling through SoHo and TriBeCa, joining a bright muscle tank top on one motorcycle rider in the West Village.
