Forest Hills Restaurant Shuttered by Department of Health

By Nigel Chiwaya | July 20, 2012 4:04pm

FOREST HILLS — Biu Bella Cafe has served its last cup of coffee...for now.

The Forest Hills eatery, on Queens Boulevard and 70th Road, was shut down by the Department of Health on July 12.

According to the DOH website, Biu Bella received 61 health violation points during an inspection that day.

Critical violations included cold food that wasn't refrigerated properly, roaches and filth flies, and tobacco use, eating or drinking in the area's food preparation or dishwashing area, according to DOH data.

"The flies and brown bananas on the counter made me scared to order a smoothie," one restaurant-goer, Lauren H., wrote in a Yelp review.

"Horrible! Looked nice from the outside, but what a disappointment," wrote John D. "Tablecloth was wrinkled and heavily stained, service painfully slow and the drinks were warm, watered down and tasteless."

Biu Bella could not immediately be reached for comment.
