NEW YORK — A 32-hour heat advisory goes into effect today as the city starts a sweltering three day  heat wave.

With temperatures expected to peak at 95 degrees Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued  advisory starts at 1 p.m. Monday and will continue through 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The NWS warned that the mercury was not expected to dip below 75 degrees until Wednesday, when a strong afternoon thunderstorm was forecast to break the heat.
