CHELSEA — The charms of Paris are coming to Chelsea.

A new open-air French market will set up shop at the Chelsea Triangle Plaza at Ninth Avenue between West 14th and 15th Streets from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays starting this week and continuing through Nov. 24.

Reminiscent of a Parisian food fair, the European-style market will feature fresh fruit and vegetables, organic local pasta, breads, and baked good, pizza, homemade cheeses, organic meats, and of course, French baked goods. It will also host a variety of designers selling crafts and home decor.

The market will be set up by Bensidoun USA, a French company that manages similar markets in Paris and Chicago.

“What really makes our French Markets unique is the support of the local communities where we operate,” said Sebastien Bensidoun, executive vice-president of Bensidoun USA, in a statement.

“The Bensidoun family is truly devoted to supporting local small businesses and creating meaningful relationships within the communities it serves. Many of our vendor and customer relationships go back 15 years to the very beginning of our US efforts.”

With Chelsea Market's culinary concourse just across the street, and several of the city's most chic restaurants just a short walk away, the arrival of the market solidifies the area's reputation as a foodie hub.

Bensidoun was chosen after the Chelsea Improvement Company began searching for a company to run the food market in April

“We are extremely pleased to partner with the Bensidoun family to create a new open-air market experience for Chelsea residents and all New Yorkers to enjoy,” said Dan Biederman, president of the Chelsea Improvement Company.

The French market will run on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Nov. 24th.
