SOHO — An invitation-only sex party at the Mondrian Hotel in SoHo was shut down Saturday night after hotel residents complained of noise and hotel security discovered what was supposed to be a photo shoot.
When hotel security arrived to the room, they were barred from entering by the group that had organized the party, a source told DNAinfo.com New York.
"At which point, the hotel security figured out [what was actually happening], and broke it up," the source said.
"They were expecting a photo shoot," the source said. "And instead they [found] a swingers party."
The New York Daily News reported that the Behind Closed Doors Party was run by the School of Sex production company.
The source said the 9 Crosby St. hotel had never previously dealt with the production companies.
In an email to DNAinfo.com New York Thursday, The School of Sex insisted that there was a photo shoot at the location, and it was "followed by an after-party."
Party organizers said those present attempted to keep the party music at a low level, but said hotel security "insisted on inspecting the event every hour."
"There was a fundamental concern over privacy," a rep wrote in an email, adding that "guests felt that the hotel handled it very unprofessionally."
