Blues singer and slide guitarist Bonnie Raitt struggled for years in the underground. Although she was often a critical favorite, it wasn't until her 10th album (1989's "Nick Of Time") and 20 years of of gigging that she enjoyed commercial and critical success. "Nick Of Time" also picked up a Grammy for Album Of The Year. Raitt is currently touring behind her first album in seven years, "Slipstream." At the Beacon Theatre.

Swedish five-piece The Hives play dirty garage rock with a snarling energy that brought them international fame after their 2004 album "Tyrannosaurus Hives." Compatriots of rock revivalists like The Strokes, The White Stripes and Franz Ferdinand, The Hives' new album (their fifth) "Lex Hives" recalls their rough and ready early sound. Check out the video for their first single from the record, "Go Right Ahead." It's theband's first independently produced album since their 1997 debut "Barely Legal." The band chose not to renew their record deal with Universal's Interscope label. At Terminal 5.

Actor, comedian and writer Donald Glover is best known for being a writer for "30 Rock," and his role as college student Troy Barnes on the NBC comedy series "Community." But as Childish Gambino — a name he found from a Wu-Tang Clan name generator — Glover released his first studio album "Camp" in late 2011, debuting at 11 in the Billboard 200 chart.
