NEW YORK — Police have arrested a 22-year-old woman wanted for stealing an iPhone from a woman reported to be U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s cousin.

D'Shell Hill and an as yet unidentified man allegedly approached Erin Sotomayor around 11 a.m. on May 24, when Sotomayor was walking toward the subway station at Grand Concourse and East Tremont Avenue in the Mount Hope section of the Bronx, according to the criminal complaint filed with the Bronx District Attorney’s office.

Hill allegedly grabbed Sotomayor from behind and put her in a choke hold, pulling her hair while yelling at Sotomayor, “Give me your phone, give me your phone,” according to the complaint.

Sotomayor told police she struggled to get free, but when the man started running toward her, she dropped her iPhone.

The pair of thieves allegedly snatched the phone and ran off, according to the complaint.

The man has yet to be apprehended, but Hill is now facing charges that include two counts of robbery and one count of grand larceny.
