MIDTOWN — Bam and Bubba are getting ready to take on the Great White Way.
Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton are set to headline a star-studded fundraiser at the New Amsterdam Theatre Monday evening that is expected to bring in boatloads of cash for the Obama campaign — as well as create traffic chaos across Manhattan just in time for the evening rush.
The "Barack on Broadway" gala event will kick off at 7 p.m. with appearances by the presidential duo, as well as actors including James Earl Jones, Stockard Channing, playwright Tony Kushner, Angela Lansbury, Megan Hilty and Jeffrey Wright.
Other performers include Broadway stars Nina Arianda, Kerry Butler, Norbert Leo Butz, Patti LuPone, Cheyenne Jackson and Audra McDonald, organizers said.
The event is part of a three-stop fundraising blitz by the presidential tag team, which will kick off with a small dinner at a private residence, campaign officials said.
After that, the two will head to a gala at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Midtown, before departing for the concert in Times Square, where tickets began at $100 and soared to $1,000 for premium seating and a reception with the performers.
Protesters are planning to rally outside of the theater in support of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
"This is our first chance to show what New York's revitalized GOP under the leadership of Chairman Edward Cox can do now that Governor Romney has secured the nomination and the race is officially 'on,'" organizers said in a statement.
The president is set to return to the Big Apple yet again next week with First Lady Michelle Obama for another star-studded fundraiser at actress Sarah Jessica Parker's home, to be co-hosted by Vogue editor Anna Wintour and feature a private concert by singer Mariah Carey.
