Police Seek Suspect Who Duped Elderly Bronx Woman Out of $620

THE BRONX — Police are looking for a woman who allegedly duped an elderly Bronx resident into giving her $620.

The suspect, who is in her 50s, allegedly approached a 92-year-old woman in Soundview about 9:30 a.m. May 24 and said she had just found a bag of money but wanted to go to the victim's apartment to count it, police said.

The suspect told the elderly woman that all the woman had to do was hand over $320 and the use of her apartment, and then the suspect would give her $1,000 in return, police said.

The victim complied, allowing the suspect into the apartment and giving her $320, police said. The suspect then demanded an additional $300, which the elderly woman provided, police said.

The suspect then fled with the $620 in cash, police said.

Police described the suspect as 5-foot-7 and 170 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
