MANHATTAN — More than 100 dogs and cats in need of new homes will try to charm prospective pet owners Saturday in Greenwich Village.

The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals will host its third annual Adoptapalooza day of pet adoption and family-friendly events in Washington Square Park.

Cats and pooches from organizations including Adopt a Boxer Rescue, Abandoned Angels Cocker Spaniel Rescue and Four Paws Sake, NYC will be available for adoption from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the event's website.

A rescue dog owner who spoke in a video filmed at the 2010 Adoptapalooza said her black dog Cindy Bear adds joy to her life.

"She's a rescue dog … she was shelter dog. I adopted her and now she rescues me every day," she said.

More than 100 cats and dogs will be available for adoption at Adoptapalooza 2012 on May 19, 2012.

A pet fashion show by pet fashion designer Ada Nieves and a performance by Jilli Dog, "the world's only poker-playing dog" are also on the agenda.

Families that already have pets can bring them to the park for activities like a "dog agility" course provided by trainers at Spot Dog Daycare and a portrait by pet caricaturist Lorelei.

1010 WINS host Susan Richard and Fresh 102.7 FM host Kim Berk will broadcast live from the pooch parade from 12 noon to 2 p.m.
