Services for the 12-year-old boy killed in a roll-up gate accident in Brownsville on Sunday will be held next week, DNAinfo New York has learned.

The public viewing for Yakim McDaniels will be held Wednesday, May 16, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Lawrence H. Woodward Funeral Home at 1 Troy Ave.

The funeral will be held the next day at 10 a.m. at Union Baptist Church at 461 Decatur St.

Yakim was crushed by the the bars of a parking lot gate while playing with friends at 230 Lott Ave., at a complex owned by former Mets slugger Mo Vaughn.

Ellen Borakove, spokesperson for the New York City medical examiner's office, said that the final cause of death has yet to be determined.

A wan Doris Chase, Yakim's mother, said she wasn't up to talking about her son Wednesday but her mother Marilyn told DNAinfo New York, "It will all be OK, we'll get through this."

Chase's lawyer, who said Tuesday he was preparing a lawsuit against the management company responsible for the gate, did not respond to requests for comment Wednesday.
