Woman Robbed at Gunpoint Leaving Bronx Subway Station

NEW YORK CITY — Police are hunting for a man who robbed and pistol-whipped a woman at a Bronx subway station.

The man confronted his 65-year-old victim as she was leaving the Baychester Avenue 5 train station in Edenwald around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2012.

He demanded her property, smashed her in the head with his gun stole her pocketbook and ran off.

His victim was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was treated and released.

Police described the suspect as 5-feet-6, weighing 200 to 240 pounds and in his 30s.

He was wearing a baseball hat with a gold sticker on the visor, a brown hooded sweatshirt, brown pants and sneakers.
