MANHATTAN — DNAinfo.com New York launched Monday, taking its award-winning coverage of Manhattan’s neighborhoods to all five New York City boroughs.

The hyper-local news service expanded its editorial coverage to include all of New York City's neighborhoods, from Washington Heights to Jackson Heights and from Parkchester to Park Slope. The expansion also included a redesigned website that brings the expanded coverage to the forefront, along with a new name: DNAinfo.com New York.

“Some 1.2 million people visit DNAinfo.com New York each month because they have learned we deliver neighborhood news and information they can’t get anywhere else,” DNAinfo.com Founder and CEO Joe Ricketts said in a statement. “Our neighborhood reporting model, which embeds experienced journalists in each neighborhood, is clearly the future of local news.”

DNAinfo.com began covering the South Bronx, parts of Queens and Williamsburg, Greenpoint and Bushwick at the start of 2012, and will continue adding neighborhoods throughout the year. About a dozen journalists were added to a staff of nearly 30 for the launch of DNAinfo.com New York.

The new design features a cleaner and more streamlined look to showcase more of DNAinfo.com New York's award winning coverage of the neighborhoods. Each neighborhood page now includes ways for readers to connect with their local reporter and incorporates social media.

DNAinfo.com New York on Monday also launched DNAinfo.com’s New York Guide, an online directory that provides up-to-date information about more than 300,000 small businesses across the five boroughs.

“Our New York Guide is the best way to keep up with the latest restaurant offerings or exhibitions at a local gallery as well as to find that unique small business when you need it in a pinch,” Leela de Kretser, DNAinfo.com New York’s publisher and editorial director, said in a statement.

DNAinfo.com has won several awards for its neighborhood news coverage, including most recently an Ippie Award for the site’s Crime and Safety Report, which was heralded for its interactive portrayal of crime trends in every neighborhood across the city.

DNAinfo.com is also a finalist in the upcoming Deadline Club awards for both its coverage of the National Arts Club and the Occupy Wall Street protests.
