TRIBECA — Firefighters battled a blaze at a shoe store on Broadway Wednesday morning, officials said.

The fire broke out at 391 Broadway just before 11 a.m., an FDNY spokesman said.

"It smelled like wood burning," said Tom Cameron, 23, of Astoria, Queens, hours after the blaze.

Firefighters entered through an entrance on White Street, which intersects with Broadway, to extinguish the blaze about 12:10 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said.

One firefighter was hurt, though his injuries were not considered serious, the spokesman added. No one else was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A manager at Infinity Shoes declined to comment.
