MANHATTAN — Two people were killed and four others — including one firefighter — suffered minor injuries in a Marble Hill apartment blaze Friday, FDNY officials said.

Marilyn Brito, 46, and Juan Lizardo, 47, both suffered cardiac arrest in the 4:30 p.m. fire that broke out on the second floor of a 14-story building at 16 W. 225th St., FDNY officials said.

Brito and Lizardo lived in the apartment where the fire started, police said.

The man and woman were rushed in critical condition to New York-Presbyterian Columbia University Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.

Three other civilians and one firefighter, all with minor injuries, were also treated there.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the fire in the Marble Hill Houses - a complex that is technically in Manhattan though connected to the Bronx - but no criminality is suspected, officials said.
