BRONX — A 70-year-old woman died in a fire in her apartment in Norwood Monday night, police said Tuesday.

Joanna Governali was unconscious and unresponsive when cops and firefighters responded to a fire in her third-floor apartment at 165 East 205th St. Monday about 10:51 a.m., NYPD and FDNY officials said.

Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene, officials said.

The medical examiner will examine Governali's body to determine the cause of death, police said.

Fire marshals are also investigating the cause of the blaze, FDNY officials said.

The fire and Governali's death do not appear to be suspicious, and investigators are looking into the possibility that Governali was smoking in bed, sources said.
