Reebok Settles with Nike Over Rights to Distribute Tebow Gear

MANHATTAN — After Nike filed a lawsuit against Reebok over the right to distribute Tim Tebow-themed Jets gear, Reebok has reportedly agreed to a settlement that will require them to remove any such clothing from its stock of merchandise.  

In a statement provided to NBC New York, Nike spokeswoman Mary Remuzzi said the company is "pleased to have reached a mutually agreeable resolution."

Nike had claimed that Reebok tried to pull a quarterback sneak last month, rushing Tebow-themed Jets merchandise to the shelves immediately after the trade was announced. Nike, which recently took over licensing rights for the NFL, defended its territory and filed suit against Reebok for infringing on those rights.

Tebow joined Gang Green in March, drawing mixed reactions from Jets fans leery of Tebow’s quarterback style and his deeply Christian faith.

But that didn’t stop mass amounts of merchandise from hitting websites and stores around New York, with options not limited to the standard Jersey or T-shirt.
