Knicks and Rangers Ticket Prices to Rise Next Season

By Amy Zimmer | March 5, 2012 7:26pm

MANHATTAN — Just as the New York Knicks have been winning new fans amid Linsanity, the team's tickets will be rising for the 2012-13 season, Madison Square Garden officials announced Monday.

Knicks season tickets will increase an average of roughly 5 percent for the upcoming basketball season, when MSG debuts the second phase of its three-year top-to-bottom arena transformation.

Season tickets for the New York Rangers — who have been on a tear, leading the Eastern conference of the NHL — will jump an average of 9.5 percent.

Price increases will primarily hit upper deck seats, reflecting MSG's new amenities and improved sightlines, officials said.

"From improved sightlines to expanded concourses with new food and beverage offerings to new social gathering areas, the second phase of the transformation will offer even more exciting amenities for fans," Scott O'Neil, president, MSG Sports, said in a statement.

"Our top priority continues to be creating a world-class experience for every person that visits the Garden."

The renovation will also include new "first-class" food and beverage options from famed chefs Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Andrew Carmellini, renowned restaurateur Drew Nieporent and Aquagrill's chef and owner Jeremy Marshall, MSG said.

Season tickets will be offered at 23 different price points for the Rangers and 22 different price points for the Knicks, officials said, noting that there will also be 58 new suites opening next season along with the members-only Madison Club.

This season Knicks season ticket prices spiked an average of 49 percent, and Rangers tickets jumped an average of 23 percent, MSG officials said last year.
