TRIBECA — This year's Tribeca Film Festival will launch with a laugh.

The festival will open on April 18 with the world premier of producer Judd Apatow's new comedy, "The Five-Year Engagement," festival organizers announced Wednesday.

The film — by Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller, the creative team behind "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" — stars Segel and Emily Blunt as a happy couple who have to contend with extreme obstacles and uncomfortable family situations as they try to tie the knot.

"The Tribeca Film Festival has always celebrated the power of creative collaboration, and there is no better example of that than 'The Five-Year Engagement,'" Jane Rosenthal, the festival's co-founder, said in a statement.

"We are so pleased to join with Universal Pictures to bring the wit and energy of this hilarious and affecting film to Tribeca as we kick off our 11th edition."

The Tribeca Film Festival will run from April 18-29, and the rest of the lineup will be announced next week, organizers said.

Ticket packages will go on sale March 5 for American Express cardholders and March 12 for the general public. Single tickets will go on sale April 10 for American Express cardholders, April 15 for Downtown residents and April 16 for the general public. Tickets cost $16 for evening and weekend screenings and $8 for late night and weekday matinee screenings.
