MANHATTAN — Comedy Central has called off at least two days of taping for "The Colbert Report."

The show, hosted by satirist Stephen Colbert, was not taped Wednesday night at the 513 W. 54th St. studios and will not be taped Thursday night "due to unforeseen circumstances," a spokesman for Comedy Central said in a statement.

People familiar with the show told The Wall Street Journal that the tapings were canceled because of a family emergency. Comedy Central did not immediately respond to an inquiry.

Would-be audience members for the Wednesday and Thursday tapings took to Twitter to talk about the cancellation notices they received.

"Noooooo why did you have to cancel the taping today of all days?" @benlai91 tweeted Stephen Colbert's personal account, @StephenAtHome. "I've been waiting for this for so long!"

Neither Colbert's personal Twitter account nor the show's account mentioned the cancellation as of Thursday afternoon.
